Generative design – the future of CAD?

Generative design – the future of CAD?

For nearly 50 years, computers have helped us to draw: basically to document designs. Technological advances in a number of areas – such as cloud computing and machine learning – are about to change this: computers are finally about to start participating in the design process itself. This presentation will discuss the impact of generative design on engineering and architecture, and see examples of the technology in use today.

The speaker, Kean Walmsley, has worked at Autodesk since 1995, in a number of different countries and roles. He is currently based in Neuchatel, working for Autodesk Research on projects related to Generative Design, Virtual Reality and the Internet of Things. For the last decade he has written a popular programming-related blog called Through the Interface.
